Chester Police responded to an incident yesterday afternoon at Westminster Avenue off Cavendish Road following reports of two suspicious males looking into gardens.
Uniform officers quickly responded and two males from the Liverpool area were stopped near to the scene in possession of items which were identified as being from a house on Westminster Avenue. Entry had been gained via an insecure first floor window.
Both males were arrested and have been charged with Burglary. They are appearing before Chester Magistrates this morning. The police have recovered all of the stolen property.
DS Nick Henderson of Chester Proactive Beat Team stated “This was a great example of a vigilant neighbour contacting police having witnessed suspicious behavior. The uniformed officers have attended quickly and arrested the suspects, ensuring the victim has received all stolen property back.”
DS Henderson has the following advice for local residents “we would like to remind all homeowners to keep doors and windows locked and secure over the winter months and to report any suspicious incidents on 101 or 999 during an emergency“.
