A serious collision has resulted in the closure of parts of the A55 this morning.
UPDATE: official information states the incident involves ‘a car and a pedestrian’.
The collision took place shortly after 8am this morning – with several people tweeting about an accident in the Wrexham direction.
It is believed the collision has taken place between J40 A51 (Vicars cross interchange) and J39 A41 (Sainsbury’s / Boughton Heath Roundabout).
As a result of the incident part of the A55 has been closed, with diversions in place and long delays / traffic for motorists travelling in that direction.
There are reports of congestion on M56 to J14 A5117 (Hapsford) and on M53 to J9 A5032 (Ellesmere Port). Traffic heading away from the M53 towards North Wales has also been affected.
Cheshire Police have since tweeted to say: “A55 is currently closed Westbound between the A51 Vickers Cross and the A41 Sainsbury junction. Local diversions are in place.”
