Chester Council


Chester council, formerly Cheshire County Council is now known as Cheshire West and Chester council after structural changes to councils in England during 2009.

The council is responsible for many services for residents and local businesses. Some of the services it provides are: the collection of council tax and business rates, planning applications, rubbish collection and recycling, housing, pest control, public toilets, public transport and pest control.

The Conservative party won control of the council in the 2011 elections and Councillor Mike Jones is leader of the council.
